CLASS A FOAM AGENTS

Class A foam agents are specifically designed to combat fires involving ordinary combustible materials, like wood, paper, coal, rubber, and plastic by making water more effective. The agents reduce the surface tension of water providing superior wetting and penetrating characteristics. This allows the solution to penetrate deep into the char of deep seated fires, promoting cooling and making the Class A fuel less combustible. The expanded foam solutions also create a dense foam blanket that provides an insulating barrier between the fuel and the air.

The SILV-EX PLUS extended drain time provides longer surface wetting and cooling of the fuel and reduce the risk of ignition or reignition. In addition, foams make water five times more effective on Class A fires and cling to vertical surfaces, providing structure protection.

Foam options for fighting Class A fires include SILV-EX PLUS and ANSUL-A foam concentrates.

Available in 5 gal (19 L) pail, 55 gal (208 L) drum, 265 gal (1003 L) tote, or call for bulk delivery.

Agent options:

Class A foam options include SILV-EX PLUS and ANSUL-A foam concentrates.

SILV-EX PLUS “Class A” Fire Control Concentrate

Applied on the ground or through the air, SILV-EX foam immediately wets, cools and insulates a fire. It makes water at least five times more effective on many Class A deep-seated applications and is effective in fighting forest fires and fires in coal mines, power generation (coal bunkers), structures, tire and rubber factories, lumber mills and paper warehouses.

SILV-EX PLUS is a low, medium and high expansion, Class A foam concentrate formulated from specialty hydrocarbon surfactants, stabilizers, corrosion inhibitors and solvents. This formulation provides superior cold weather performance. Additionally, SILV-EX PLUS has been formulated to minimize its environmental signature containing no reportable substances and having no flashpoint.

Additional agent features:

Created to perform specifically on Class A combustible materials, ANSUL-A foam is compatible for use in compressed air foam systems (CAFS) over the use range of 0.1% to 1.0%. The concentrate is formulated using fluorine-free hydrocarbon surfactants to perform on Class A combustible materials typical in municipal applications. The Compressed Air Foam System (CAFS) compatible concentrate can be used with both aspirating and non-aspirating discharge devices because of the low energy required to make it foam. The concentrate can also be used with dry chemical extinguishing agents without any regard to the order of application. It is available in a 5 gal (19 L) pail, 55 gal (208 L) drum and 265 gal (1003 L) tote.ANSUL-A concentrate will vary depending on the performance characteristics of the equipment and the type of water (e.g., fresh, salt, or hard) at the correct dilution. Aspirating discharge devices produce expansion ratios from 6:1 to 10:1 depending primarily on the type of aspirating device and flow rate. In general, the higher the flow rate, the higher the expansion ratio. Non-aspirating devices such as hand line water fog/stream nozzles will give expansion ratios of 2:1 to 4:1.
